BMW Repair: exact location of ambient temperature sensor, fog lights, ambient temp

hello, i have a 2000 540i with its temperature reading -40 degrees, i asked a mechanic to see if he can find the exact location for the ambient temp sensor, he could not locate it. could you please tell me where i can find this and where is it plugged into. i do appreciate your help.

Dante, should be in one of the two front bumper corner support areas. Two wires. Usually blue with red tracer. Two wire connector. If the black plastic corner support piece is severely damaged the sensor has probably been ripped out. Look for two dangleing wires by the horns or fog lights just in front of the front wheels. Swing by the dealer if you still can't find it. It is a super common repair at the dealer and they will be able to show you or give you a price quote or provide you with the correct parts for repair. If I remember correctly the A/C compressor will not work with a broken ambient temp. sensor.
