BMW Repair: passenger seat heater not working, bmw 540i, gauge wire

Question
hello,
BMW 540i passenger seat does not heat up. the switch for the driver's seat does work but the switch for the passenger wont even light up, could this be a fuse issue or could it be the panel it self maybe damaged? please help.
Dante

Answer
Dante, check all your fuses. If the panel lights up then most likely the fuse that runs the seat heater is the same for the control switch. I don't have the electric diagram so I can't tell you that for sure. If you remove the panel are there any heavy gauge wire going to it? Wiring large enough to supply power to the seat heater itself? If the buttons can be removed individually swap the drivers and passengers buttons and see if the faulty operation travels to the driver side. Check the connectors underneath the seat for proper routing and connection. It may be that the seat heating element is faulty.
