BMW Repair: Stalling BMW 540i, mass air flow meter, mass air flow

Hello Evan,
i have the same problem as Erik, my 540i 2000 has 117k miles, it will stall once the idle comes down and will lunge at times, since its now out of warranty, can this problem be simply fixed by just checking the manifold gaskets? can somebody like myself (not mechanically inclined) do the tweaking? i do have friends who understand a little bit about engines who may be able to help, does it need special instruments or gauges?

Dante, Usually see faulty intake gaskets, a ruptured intake backing plate diaphram, or faulty Mass Air flow meter. You will need to have these replaced professionally other than the Mass Air flow, but will still need to clear faults from memory.
