BMW Repair: Trunk wont open, bmw528i, mechanical key

Question
My trunk is locked on my 97 BMW528i and will not open. The key, the button inside under the dash, I tried turning it to the left and pull up on the trunk like the tech told me and it wont open.  No sound, nothing. What can I do to get it open to change the lock actuator?

Answer
Duane, I don't know of any emergency release handle or anything like it that would be easy to fix. If the mechanical key in the lock cylinder doesn't work then I imagine that the lock actuator rod has fallen off or the like. I am guessing that you would have to take the rear seat bottom out and the back rest to access the trunk area to remove the trunk trim panels to get the trunk open.
