I have a 2002 bmw 330xi-(4 weel drive)automatic...I want to do an oil change on my car i was wondering if u knew how to reset the code..i was told its the buttons on the dash..when ever your car oil needs to be changed it tells you, everytime you start up the car it would tell you how many miles before your oil need to be changed and if you dont reset it it will read negative..i wanted to know how to reset it...thanks, kris

Answer
Kris, this is the oil service light.
Oil service on your car includes:
-Changing the oil (seven quarts 5w-30 full synthetic oil)
-changing oil filter and O-ring
-checking parking brake operation (less than ten clicks to hold the vehicle weight)
-checking the brake pads for thickness and rotors
-check and adjust tire pressure for proper inflation
-replace microfilter
Make sure you do this or have this done by a professional mechanic. So press and hold left instrument cluster button and turn the key one click forward. When you see the words 'reset' release the button and press and hold it again until it begins to flash. Release the button and press once. It should reset. If you need an inspection it is reset the same way, but make sure you get an inspection sheet/checklist from the dealer to be performed by a professional.
