BMW Repair: E46 Outside Temp sensor, variable resistor, wire colors

E46 330 cabriolet...I hit an object on the freeway which swiftley removed my temp sensor, the connector and the plastic fender/mount, leaving four wires and the foglight plug. I need to know what the wire colors are that go to the sensor or at least the voltage so i can narrow it down.

Ron, outside temp sensor on E46 is a two wire sensor. I am wondering what the extra two wires are from? The wire position on the temp sensor connector doesn't matter because it is a variable resistor, you can't wire it up backwards. The round temp sensor in the other side's fender support is for the heated washer jets. Is that what you mean by four wires? Tell me what wire colors and gauges you have in front of you.
