BMW Repair: Front door handles on 02 X5, front doors, window regulator

Question
When I unlock the doors, I cannot open the front doors with the exterior handles--the locks come up, and I can open them from within, not from outside. Is this some sort of re-settable anti-theft thing?

Brian, I see quite a few door lock actuator problems, unfortunately the door panel has to come off to investigate or replace. Some times the window regulator will fail catching the interior of the outer door lock handles' innards. Having said that you need to take the panel off and visually inspect.
