BMW Repair: 325i convertible inoperative, bmw tis, hall sensors

Question
Hi Evan. I am an experienced technician with 20 years experience primarily Japanese and American cars. I have been searching for the trouble with my wife's 94 325i conv. It is electrically inoperative. I found some crushed wires in the hinging of the top on the drivers rear near the microswitch. I repaired the wiring and still have no function. I tried the initialization procedure per Alldata and BMW TIS. Something to the effect of having the top manually stowed, motors re-engaged, holding the conv switch to close and then turning the key etc. Still nothing. TIS and Alldata tell me to "check fuse 49 near the battery" I am not finding any fuses except the ones under the hood, and one stuck way up under the dash in the left kick panel area on top of some modules. I was told the initialization wold not work it had to go to the dealer. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in Advance

Answer
Kevin, hard to say. I usually find a faulty microswitch or a motor assembly faulty. I don't have a lot of experience with these older cars but the dealer machine can read out the statuses of all the microswitches and hall sensors. Expect to sink some diagnosis labor into it as they are not always easy to pinpoint.
