BMW Repair: asc light does not go off E38, number 0, cable connector

Question
hey Tino, I also have another problem with my UK 1999 E38 728i that I hope you could help me with.

I had a problem with my ABS Module and had it replaced (European part number 0 265 900 001) which is a known problem. The ABS/ASC lights were on, speedo/mpg gauge didnt work and apparently the module could not be fixed buy a "specialist" and I had to buy a new one. After installing the new module the ASC light still stays on, and everything else works fine.
I was driving around without an ABS module for a week when I sent it to be repaired as I needed the car. I noticed that when I started up the car at the first couple of days (without a module installed) it took a couple of seconds for the ASC light to turn on, as if the car's computer was checking wheather if the ASC can work. On the 3rd day the ASC light would turn instantanously on as if the fault was embedded in the cars computer and it would not do a checkup on it first. This made me assume that there will be a problem when I put in the new module and unfortunately there is. The module has not been coded as I was told that it does not need coding but I am not sure what I am suppose to do now. Thanks.

Answer
Hello Michael,
First, try a complete vehicle fault code clearing. If this does not help, re-boot the ASC module by disconnecting your battery or the cable connector to the ASC for approximately 20 minutes. Actually, you can do both simultaneously.
If the ASC light still comes back, then it needs coding no matter what others say. Then clear fault codes again. If the light still returns, then scan it again and tell me of the fault codes you get.
