BMW Repair: lights not working, lamp control, repair job

Question
i have a 2002 530i.  both the high beam & front directional lights on the
same side are not working.  can it be just a coincidence that both bulbs burnt
out at the same or nearly the same time or can i have another problem ? any
help would be appreciated.  thanks.

Answer
Hi Paul,
Not unless you have had a body repair job lately or an
unrepaired collision damage, then you do not have to worry
about the synchronization of the defects. The wires for both the signal lights and the headlights are sufficiently distinct/separate/insulated from each other.
Just replace both bulbs. But check if the cable connectors
for both and the bulb socket for the signal light bulb are not damaged thru overheating or corrosion. The lamp control module, when it belly ups usually gives more symptoms than the ones you mentioned.
