Car Stereos: Radio, sony cd player, some stations

QUESTION: Hi Justin,

I recently purchased a Sony cd player for my car in the states and took it back over to Ireland I'm having trouble tuning in the stations it seems to skip over the frequency I need I have heard from asking around that this is a common problem with using radio's from America that they turn in different intervals than radio's from Europe. Is there anything I can buy or change to make it tune the stations in? Thanks!

ANSWER: Hi John,

A select few decks have a Europe mode you can change them to; check the manual.  Failing that, there isn't anything you can do -- you'll have to either just deal with only some stations working (the ones that you can tune), or replace it.

Hi John,

Opinions on decks is usually just that -- opinion.  You'll find people who swear by them, and people who hate them.  My experience with Alpine units are that they're simply alright.  Nothing special, but not crap either.  They seem to work alright.
