BMW Repair: Engine Swap, m3 engine, 325is

Question
Hello, I was just wondering if someone could point me into the right direction.  I don't know that much about re-building and swapping engines but seek an answer about my car.  I recently bought a 1993 325is that already has m3 accesaries such as bumper, exaust, and seats. I was wondering if it I would be able to swap it with an m3 engine.  Specifically, if so what years would I be able to try to get?  How much do you think this process will cost?

Answer
Sean,
Yes, you can swap the engine into your car.  Technically 1995-1998 M3 engine's should drop right in.  However, you wil need the full wiring harness, ECU, and a host of other parts.
The engine alone should fetch several thousand $$$.  (Maybe $3,000).  You would also want the transmission with it.  Then labor to remove and reinstall an engine would probably be a few thousand more ($3,000).

Your engine is coded M50, the M3's engine is an S50.  Do a search for S50 engines and you'll get an idea.

 Good luck,
 Josh
