BMW Repair: car wont start, please email me pologq02@aol.com, flat head screws, 2000 bmw 540i

hi, i have 2000 bmw 540i vin wbadn634bor its a 6 ygm67380 with about 76,000 miles on it...  Saturday morning  i got in the car  it drove perfect even when doing 130 on freeway for about a 20 min drive ... i pulled in to bmw dealership to pick up new gps disc N then hop back in the car  N the car just went click  then again it went click ...wouldn't start but all lights lights up . then i  notice a ground wire was smoking  on the drivers side when trying to start it &  it burnt all the way through under neath the seat not touching anyother wires just melted next to them ....  i repair it my self later that day when i had car towed home from the bmw dealership thinking that it was the .prob... now it just still goes click replace the battery  N it wasn't that  , all lights work fine so i doubt its the alternator  so would you have any idea what the prob could be...

Leo, ditch the electical ignition switch.

The MSRP is about $50.00
Remove the plastic screw on the bottom side of the lower steering column cover and remove. Release the bale on the connector. Pick off the paint that covers the little flat head screws. Release the screws. Replace the switch.
