BMW Repair: X5 blower motor resistor, blower motor resistor, model vehicles

Where is it located? I pulled the heater panel out hoping it was behind it, but no luck. Which panels do I need to remove in order to gain access? I really don't want to break trim clips and burn up 4 hours taking out the wrong trim pieces. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I hope you don't mind my asking some questions first:
a) why are you interested in replacing the "blower motor
resistor? b) who gave you the idea and the term "blower motor resistor? c) what is the year and model/engine of your X5? There are so many X5 models available and I do not want to give you the wrong info.
While there is really an item called blower resistor, perhaps you mean something else. A blower resistor in an 80's vehicle is not the same blower resistor in newer model vehicles. Allow me to be of better help by answering my questions first.
