BMW Repair: 2001 e46 rear door window, flat screwdriver, torx sockets

Question
I have a 2001 BMW 325i and I was rolling up my windows and all of the sudden the rear passenger window won't move.  I can hear the the motor making noise like it's trying.  I think the window got off track b/c I can still move the window up and down manually. Any input you have would be great. N=ANyone have step-by-step instructions on how to fix this? Thanks. Email p6_us@yahoo.com.

Answer
Hi Dave,
Obviously and undeniably, you have a bad rear window regulator. First buy the window regulator, a one-fourth socket ratchet with a 2 or 3 inch extension, a 10 mm. and  8 mm. socket for it, a set of torx screwdrivers or torx sockets(also 1/4), a small flat screwdriver, and a trim remover tool (a tiny prybar-like tool with 2 flat prongs).
You also need a razor blade.
Remove the small round cover/cap inside the inner door handle/lever, remove the screw inside; pry off the long horizontal trim at upper area of door trim, remove long screw beneath; pry off airbag cap/cover at rear upper area of trim, remove another screw; carefully pry off cover/rear window switch,remove screw;  remove caps at lower side of main door handle and remove screws; pry off edges of door trim, disconnect wires/cable connectors and door lock lever,
set aside door trim;remove vapor barrier/sound absorbent cover by carefully cutting ribbon sealer at edges; detach cable connector to window regulator, remove electric motor with torx screwdriver and set aside; detach window glass from regulator at 2 sides with 8 mm. socket, bring up glass and secure with masking tape so that it would not fall down and break; remove regulator with 10 mm socket and replace;
re-install removed components.
Have fun!
