BMW Repair: 99 740i and Vanos Bank 1, solenoid switch, vanos

Question
Hi, I just read a question about OBDII P1519 .. I have same issue. I have a fault 33 Function, inlet VANOS, bank 1. I recently had this replaced and the light went out for a few days and was back on. I wonder if they replaced the correct side? Is bank 1 passenger or driver side? Is there a place I could see/read how to replace it? Thanks!

Answer
Hi Suzanne,
Bank 1 is the right bank of cylinders (passenger side).
If you are referring to how to replace the VANOS solenoid switch, you just need to remove the cable connector to the solenoid, and proceed to remove it with a big spanner.
Please note that I do not vouch for the repair required to correct an OBD fault read by an aftermarket OBD scanner.
Faults for a part does not automatically mean that this same part has to be replaced.
