-----Question-----
I put on my snows yesterday and no speedometer, mpg, ave mph. Also ABS and ASC lights are on. This can't be the ABS module. The coincidence of changing the tires is too big. Before I spend a fortune, please help.
-----Answer-----
Hi Jerry,
The snows definitely affects all the parameters you mentioned
since the overall circumference of the tire has changed (small tires equals slower speed and less gas mileage, bigger is the reverse). The car computers are seeing different data from what it would normally expect to see.
The ABS/ASC lights being on normally signifies that the control module has seen a temporary or continuous wheel slippage (by comparing the wheel speeds of the 4 individual wheels). Driving fast on a puddle would turn it on, so is driving fast on a corner or road bump. I just hope that during the installation of the snows, the wheel speed sensors or cables did not get damaged.
Try driving it for a few miles to see if the ABS/ASC light goes out. If not disconnect the control module connector for about ten minutes with the key off and reconnect afterwards.
You did not mention the year and type of beemer you have.
So I cannot tell you exactly where it is (but it is the cable and module that attaches to the ABS pump.
Re- the speedometer, mpg, etc. problem, I guess you can not bake your cake and eat it too in this case.

Sorry - the beemer is a 1999 528i and I did put larger snows on - 235 / 60 /16 vs 225 / 55 /16.
They don't rub anywhere. They came off a 740i

Answer
Hi Jerry,
The ASC/DSC module is the electronic part connected to the ABS pump on the right side of the engine compartment, beside the shock tower,  and also beside the diagnostic connector.
Disconnect the cable connector to the module for ten minutes as previously mentioned (you have to pry open the end portion of the connector and then pull the connector out).
Reconnect and roadtest. If the abs/asc/dsc checklights come back, spend the money for a one hour diagnosis at your nearby BMW dealer just in case there is something out of the ordinary with your problem. If worst comes to worse, and you do not feel comfortable with their recommendations, just get the details of the faults found, their diagnosis, and have them clear the faults. Then tell me about it.
One more thing, when driving on slippery roads, since wheel slippage is a given, expect the ASC/DSC to come on. Some people turn off the ASC/DSC switch, but I do not recommend it for legal reasons.
