Hi,
Can you please tell if you know what the problem is with the radio.  There is no sound coming from the radio, however the CD works fine.
Thank you in advance.  1998 BMW 740IL

Answer -
Francis, do you have Navigation Board monitor? or regular radio? If you don't know, please describe the radio controls. Hifi sound system? Factory amplifier? CD changer in rear?

No Navigation Board. It is Hifi speaker system with DPS. CD changer in the rear. The radio station displays, but no sound. The CD is working. Both the cassette stopped working at the same time. I hope to hear from you.

Answer
Frank, I believe the Radio/Cassette is faulty causing no radio output. See if you can find some one with the same radio/cassette and pull yours out and swap their's in to verify that this is the cause. The long Multinformational Display (MID) is just a display unit and has no processing. It can switch between radio/cassette/CD changer. You say your CD works well. That tells me that the CD changer is okay, the MID is okay and the DSP (digital sound processor) amplifier is okay if you can adjust the settings. The Electronics for the radio are in the cassette/radio unit. Pop open the little doors on the sides and release the little screws and it should pull out. You probably have one main bale connector and an antenna plug. This may be a hard to find unit even at BMW parts. Try to find one to swap before ordering because I doubt any dealer would stock this unit. But you could call around. If this helps please fill out a follow up survey.
