BMW Repair: Instructions to repair rear window, torx screws, razor blade

Question
Evan, Thank you very much for the oil light info. Same car, 2000 323i, the passenger right window's lifter cable twisted and stopped working.  I have purchased the hadware and read in a previous question that you can give instructions to replace this. I would appreciate your help.  Thank you very much.

Answer
Edwin, Pry out wood trim panel with pry tool. Pop out window switch. Pop out plastic covers on underside of arm rests. Remove T-20 torx screws from these locations. Pry door panel away from door starting at the bottom. Remove the inner door handle connector (white). Remove any speaker connections or other connectors. Set aside door panel and remove vapor barrier adhesive with a razor blade. Don't tear the barrier as it is very soft, it keeps rain water out of the footwell and has to be resealed well. The adhesive is easier to cut through when it is warm. You don't have to remove the whole thing, just cut the top and the sides loose and fold the bottom down. Move the window to where you can remove the 8mm bolt that attaches the window to the regulator. If you need to remove the motor to make it easier to move the window you can (one connector and 3, T-30 torx screws.) Once the glass is free push toward the top of the door and use masking tape to keep in place while you pull the regulator. remove the regulator nuts. Fish regulator out of door. Install new regulator and reinstall all in reverse order. Check window operation before installing door panel.
