BMW Repair: Airbag sensor light, fault frequency, srs system

Question
Hi:
I have a 2000 323i that has on it 35K miles and is off warranty.
Recently, the airbag light has been coming on and off more than
intermitently. I looked up recall info and it looks like there was one
on side airbag sensor. Is my problem rekated to that recall and if
so would it be covered by BMW?
Thanks for your help and input.
Fred

Answer
Fred, Call your local dealer and give them you last seven digits of the VIN number and ask them if there are any open recalls on your vehicle. You need to have the faults read out of the SRS system to see what fault is stored for your airbag light. Pay an hour for Diagnosis and then make your decision. They will also try to upsell you anything else they see as a problem with your vehicle. Don't be discouraged, that is their job to let you know what is wrong with your vehicle and try to make some money. Be sure to get a hard copy of the diagnostic report and fault print out with fault frequency. Good luck and let me know what you decide.
