Dodge Repair: setting the timing, dodge spirit, internal combustion

Question
"93 Dodge Spirit. Needed to replace a bad water pump. Required removing everything from front of engine to get to bolts. Removed timing belt. End result - car does not want to start. Engine turns over, but does not sound like internal combustion is taking place.

Question: what is the process to assure that we did not affect the timing. How would you check and reset the timing (if necessary) on this car?

Answer
Sounds like the timing belt sliped .. the motor has some marks on the gears that have to be timed. you may want to get a chilton book and read up on the timing belt instalation.  after you have the belt timed then rotate the crank around 2 times and recheck the marks to make sure everything still lines up.
