BMW Repair: 1995 BMW 325is will not start, 1995 bmw 325is, bmw 325is

Question
ok here goes the situation at hand:

Engine cranks but will not start, sprayed starter fluid in the intake begins to fire until all the fluid is burned off, ie spark ok and no fuel to engine, put a current to the pump and it begins pumping fuel, no power is going to the pump via small bottom black connector, tested fuse 18 no power to the fuse socket, dme appears to be working as well, also checked the impact sensor which is ok summary: impact sensor ok,fuel pump ok, dme ok, fuel pump fuse ok, fuse socket no power, no power to the pump either. there is power however to the white connector on the pump the sending unit connector i believe. the power flows dme--->dme relay--->fuel pump relay---->fuel pump fuse---->fuel pump, so i am told, so there must be a problem between the fuel pump relay and fuse, so I replace the fuel pump relay and she starts working again. She runs great for about a day then    I was driving along and the engine suddenly died down, like when you lose traction with the traction control on, the tach was dancing around sporatically and the check engine light came on. then she stalled. I shut her off then turned her back on again, I get about 100ft down the road and the same thing happens.. this time i pop start it, dies 4 seconds later. this time it wont turn back on.

I tow her home and buy another fuel pump relay, still no go.

Car cranks but will not start
Fuel pump ok
Fuel pump relay and fuse ok
DME ok
DME relay ok
Plugs and ignition coils ok

I just dont get it, I jumper the fuel pump relay socket, pins # 30 and 87 and the fuel pump turns on and im able to start the car.

I assumed it was something electrical, so i bang testing the fuel pump relay socket. With the key off, I get power to pins #87 and #30 obivoulsy, with the key in the start position I get power to pin #86 as well, pin #85 however i get nothing. perhaps the problem is there?

Please help me solve this problem I'm at my wits end and desperately need the car for work.

Thank you.

Answer
Sometimes when it comes to a problem with newer cars people get way to deep and start thinking and try to think they know how a system works.#85 is how the relay gets the ground to energize so that #87 will get power from #30.Terminals 85 & 86 are energized to provide enough magnetic pull so that #30 will contact with 87 and the pump will run.
There is another relay you have not mentioneed and that is the main relay and that is what supplies power to the fuel pump relay.
Check all you sockets in the relays and the grounds as well.Any kind of green at the sockets is a sign of cleaning needed to be made.
