hi i have a 1997 e39 when i switch fan on there is no air coming out of the vents at all on any speed.i have changed the final stage resistor and still dont work.any thoughts would be welcome thanks sorry i meant a e39

Mike, help me out. What is an E49? What are you working on?

Mike do the A/C controls light up? Do you have voltage and ground to the final stage with the A/C on? Does the compressor clutch engauge? Have you tried swapping a buddies A/C control unit (don't see very many). What happens if you tap on the blower motor through the Final stage hole or the microfilter ducts under the hood? I'll have to check the wiring diagrams.
