BMW Repair: Brake lining light, brake lining, brake pad

The brake lining light on my 1984 318i won't go out. The brake pads and the sensor have been changed but the light is still on. thank you

Tom,
 Something is grouded causing the light to stay on.  Even though the sensor is not in the brake pad anymore, somewhere up the line in the wiring there is a short circuit.  When this wire is grounded, it completes the circuit and makes the light come on.

 Check your wiring front and rear for bare spots or anything that could cause the wiring to be grounded.
