BMW Repair: High idling on 1985 BMW 325E, 1985 bmw 325e, high idling

Question
About two months ago we started the car and the idling went to 4000 RPM.  We turned the car off and it quit.  Last week it did it and will not go below 4000 RPM.  Do you have any idea what this might be?

Thank You,
Clay Swaim

Answer
Sounds like the idle control valve or its contol module has  a problem. The valve is located hear the intake throttle body and has two large hoses attached to it along with an electrical connection. The control module is next to the computer in the dash above the glove box.If you block off the two vac lines and the car idles very low or stalls then you need to have that checked by a mechanic.
