I found out my 1996 Disco I SE7 has a fault code relating to Incorrect purge flow.  I tried to find a diagram of the emissions parts on this vehicle on the net but could not.  Just need to know what part or parts I should start working  on to find the problem?  Thanks

Answer -
Incorrect purge flow faults cannot be diagnosed with special equipment.

In our shop, we use a smoke machine to fill the purge system with smoke.  The smoke escapes anythere the system has a leak.

We use Land Rover's T4 test system to operate the purge system.  It allows us to run the components and verify their operation. This is sometimes used alone, sometimes with smoke.

Those two tools are really essential for testing because many purge problems are leaks, not broken parts.  The change of success throwing parts at this code at home is very small.

When you seek a shop, if it's not a dealer, make sure they have the proper tools and understanding to do the job.  Most independent garages lack the tools and skills for this work on a LR, so make sure you're in teh right place before you begin.

Answer
If the only fault is a purge fault the running of the truck will be unaffected if you ignore the light.  The risk is that other fault conditions - unrelated ones - will occur later and you won't know because you're already ignoring the light.

Engine damage could result from that.

The purge system does not affect the vehicle's running.
