Please tell me how to install the cabin filters for a 2000 740il.  The ones under the hood look very straightforward, but I need detailed instructions for the ones in the car somewhere behind the dash.  Thanks

the only ones in the car are under the hood. there is no microfilter behind the dash

 I know that there are recirculation filters that are somewhere inside the car.  The part is available, so I need to know how to install these.  Hopefully this clarifies what I need to know.  Thanks!!

I dont know who is telling you that there are filters inside the car, but there is no such filter inside the car. the only ones are the ones under the hood. on the older 5 series and 7 series and 3 series, the filter was located in the car behind the dash, but on the newer ones, they relocated them to under the hood. whoever is telling you that there is a filter inside the car is lying. there is however an automatic recirculation sensor that you will find attached to the fan shroud under the hood. it is a small black box attached to the fan shroud and it has an electrical connection to it. when this sensor pollutants, it automatically closes the fresh air flap to change it to recirculation.
