Question
Paul,
My father, whos name is also Paul, has a 03 330xi.  For his birthday i wanted to give his car a little extra boost and was wondering what would be the best thing to start with (exhaust, intake, etc..).  I'm looking to spend around $500. let me know what you think.  Thanks alot,

Answer
Honestly, I believe that a lot of items on the market are simply gimmicks, but that is just my opinion. They typically only give you on average about 5 extra hp. which isn't going to be all that noticable. However, some recommended companies to look into are bavarian autosport, hamann engineering, rogue engineering are a couple of good BMW performance suppliers. If I were going to do anything, it would be an exhaust, not for the power increase, but for a better sounding exhaust note. If you wanted a substantial increase in performance, you may want to purchase a whole package which usually includes any of the following depending on price-exhaust,cold air intake, performance ignition wires and spark plugs, computer chip, lowering springs, larger throttle bodies, larger intake manifolds, exhaust headers etc. They run in excess of $1000 and up depending on what you get. I believe rogue engineering has packages put together and priced. hope this helped
