BMW Repair: Alarm System, false alarms, 540i

My 1999 540i also has a problem with its alarm system.  It always goes off and is very sensitive.  Is there any way to adjust the sensitively of the alarm?

On  these design 5 series, there is an interior sensor located in the center of the headliner behind that square cover with the grilles in it. A lot of times that is overly sensitive or triggers false alarms. Unfortunately, the only way to diagnose it is for the dealer to read the alarm counter to determine what is causing the alarm to trigger and the # of times it caused it. I believe if it is the interior sensor, that there was an updated sensor to correct the problem
