BMW Repair: Exhaust Emissions --- excessive, e mail address, exhaust emissions

Question
I have to have my BMW run thru our DEQ Emission Test (OREGON) prior to liscencing.

It passed handily two years ago after installing a new cat. conv. and an O2 sensor.

This time to prepare for inspection, I replaced the O2 sensor.

The car failed miserably --- excessive HC and NOx.

Any ideas what I should look for?

Thanks,

Answer
What model car?
What year car?
Let me know and I can help you.
High HC is Unburned fuel, implying the O2 sensor is not giving signal, or one of many other components are causeing the computer to put more fuel in the cylinder than can be burned by the detonation.  NOX is caused by a bad CAT or a bad EGR (if your car has one).  Give me more info and I will do the same.
