BMW Repair: E30 seat problem, seat height adjustment, seat leather

Question
The seat height adjustment lever on the driver's side has broken on my 89 325is.  Is there any easy way to fix or replace this without having to buy a whole new seat?  I realize there may be 5 different types of seats...it is a two position (up & down) manual seat, leather.

Answer
If it's the seat im thinking than it could be that you just need a new shock.  can you adjust the seat if you lift up as your pressing the lever? if so, replace the shock, if not, you have a mechanical problem somewhere.  upolstry shops can often repair a broken seat and can get the parts.
