BMW Repair: driveshaft removal, bmw forums, flex joint

Have a 1987 325ic  5 speed that has an extra balancer(not all models have this) around the front drive shaft where the flex joint is joined to the transmission flange. my question is how do I keep nut from turning while unscrewing the 17 mm bolt securing the flex joint to flange?  The 3 nuts are buried with this balancer around them. Tried sockets, made sockets, box end, open end, offset box end--You name it I've tried. Running out of patience.  Can you help?

I have no idea because as you said, your car is rare and i have never done this service on one.
