BMW Repair: M10 Rebuild Project, head bolts, head gasket

Question
Hi!  I am the proud owner of an '81 320i with the 1.8 M10 and CIS.  I have determined that the motor requires a rebuild (bad rings and a damaged head gasket) and I have the parts on order to begin work next weekend.  I have looked through a few manuals and done countless hours of research on the net about this procedure.  I feel fairly confident, but I have a few questions regarding this motor.
1)  Do the rocker arm shafts on this head have to be driven out from the side of the head or does this motor have them self enclosed?  If so, what is the most effictive way to do this?
2)  Are there any common issues with this motor that, durring rebuild, I can look out for and fix if necessary?
3)  Do you recommend that I replace the Head Bolts as well as the normal wear and tear motor items?
4)  I have seen images of about 3 different styles of head configuration for this motor on the net and in my manuals.  Is there a particular site I can look at to find an assembly drawing of the head for the '81 1.8L?

Thanks for your time and assistance!

Answer
1. I believe the shafts on that head need to be driven out from the side however i'm not sure cause i don't have the specs in front of me.
2. I have never rebuilt that engine (it's not $worth$ it for mechanics to rebuild engines anymore)
3. YES, absolutely replace the head bolts, not only could they be torque to yield bolts, it's always recomended on every engine to replace the head bolts when removeing the head.
4. your best bet is to get the engine code and go from there.

sorry i can't help more, i have limited resources on that engine.
