GMC Repair: transmission leak, chevy venture van, reputable repair shop

Question
i took my chevy venture van to get an oil change and told him that i find small spots of transmission oil on my driveway. he checked it and told me not to worry about it. this is the second year he has told me that. if i buy a bottle of the stuff that is suppose to stop the leaks, would that work and could i do it myself? i am a 77 year old widow and very handy.  thanks

Answer
Hi
Any leak has the potential to be damaging. I would take it to a more reputable repair shop or dealership, and have it checked. I would not put ANYTHING in my transmission, except the recommended fluid per the manufactures instructions. There is no permanent cure for a leak, except to repair it. If the stop leak products really worked that well, then chances are the mechanic who told you about the leak would have put it in.
