GMC Repair: Intermittent service engine soon light, gm models, chevy tracker

Question
QUESTION: I have an intermittent service engine soon light that comes on stays on for a while and after period of time it will go back off to repeat again A mechanic read the code which said something about incomplete emissions?????? . I was told to replace the EGR valve unit, in Joliet the cheapest one new is $325. As soon as the new valve went on the light went out. Only to come back on a week later it comes and goes. what might be causing this?

ANSWER: you will need to have your emissions diagnosed. that could be only one of several problems. 325.00 is average price for an EGR. I paid that about seven years ago. I would look at your catalyst as well. O2 sensors, emission lines from the cold air.

QUESTION: BTW where is the interior fuse panel located in my o2 Chevy Tracker I have yet to find it, several accessories has stopped working, like heat spare power plug etc...

Answer
there is a panel under the hood. open drivers door, look on the side of the dash. also look at the lower part of the dash, left side of steering column. I am unsure of the location, most GM models are located in these areas. look at the kick panels on both driver and passenger sides as well.
