GMC Repair: 2003 GMC Envoy XL - Rear AC Not Working, gmc envoy xl, gmc envoy

Question
First and foremost, I just want to Thank YOU for your time. Most people would not consider helping so many people for nothing in return.

Now...I bought this vehicle used, my VIN # is 1GKES16S636149050 back in 2006 and I absolutely love my Envoy. I had no problems with it at all. Just last summer was when the rear AC stopped working. It just completely stopped blowing. I would try to mess with my control knob and it would turn on every now and then but then it gave up for good. When it did blow it was cold air. But it will not blow cold or hot. It's like the fan is out. I went through my manual and checked all of the common fuses i could get to easily and that was all fine. So before I take it in I really wanted to get an idea of what to expect. I just hit 100k miles on it and I would love to keep it for another 100k if possible. I did recently notice that when i turned the key but did not crank the engine the vents would blow...which really confused me! But it doesn't happen every time I try it. Again thank you so much for your time and I look forward to hearing your response.

Answer
There have been many issues with the ignition switch on the Envoys, which would explain the not cranking when you turn the key.  As for the rear blower motor, it does sound like it is faulty.  The front floor center console needs to be removed to access it.  Dealer labor pays roughly 3 hours plus A/C system recharge, so if you are going to a local repair shop that should give you a rough idea as to whether or not they are over charging you.  Thanks for your kind words, its my pleasure to try to help, I have gathered this knowledge so why not share!! have a great day and good luck
