GMC Repair: Cam Shaft Position Sensor, cam shaft position sensor, shaft position

Question
I own a 2002 GMC Yukon 4.8L. Took the truck to Auto Zone. Diagnostic Testing states faulty CAM shaft position sensor. Their part is $44 and GMC would want $220.00+ to replace it. The truck does act like it's not going to start at times. Is this something that can be easily replaced without taking it to the dealer? And if so, how do we go about replacing it? Thanks!

Answer
Hi
It is not taht hard, but it is not easy.
It is located on REAR of engine, on block deck, in area about where a distributor would be located on a small block engine.
There is only 1 bolt holding it in. It is just difficult to get access to it.
I hope this helps
Good Luck
