GMC Repair: computer reset for 99 gmc sonoma 4.3 vortex, gmc sonoma, compression stroke

Need to know how to reset computer due to rotor button breaking replaced button but would idle but not get over 4 grand tried to replace distributer and but no luck it will not even idle now please help

There is not way to reset PCM.
My best advice is to remove dist. Put engine on TDC #1 compression stroke.
Then install dist. with the rotor pointer pointed at the #6 that is cast into the small SMALL indention on the DISTRIBUTOR HOUSING almost directly across from the cam sensor (electrical connector) on the dist. Look VERY close before you install the dist, you'll see it. where the cap fits on the dist, is round. there is a small point in thethis arealike where the screws go, you'll see a 6 in this small point. That is the location of where the rotor needs to be pointed at #1 cylinder TDC compression.
