GMC Repair: 2003 GMC Envoy, gmc envoy, module switch

Question
I started to smell this hot electric smell in my 2003 GMC Envoy. In addition to that my driver side door panel no longer works, I cant click any of the buttons, and the remote does not unlock the driver side door either. Everything else seems to work ok. It is fully loaded with power everything. I looked under the rear seat and notice that the 3rd fuse was no good. It was a 10 ATM mini fuse, and even after replacing the fuse = the driver side door still does not work, and the smell continues... I tried to sniff around to locate the hotest smell, and only can guess it to be the drivers side door, but its hard to tell.

Even with the door open, the car light does not come one, as it doesnt recoginize the door as being open... Any suggestions, and where to fix the problem.. If the door panel needs taken off, How do you do take the door off, as i didnt see any screws at all.

Answer
Hi
I have run into this numerous times, it is the Drivers door module has internally melted down.
You'll need to replace the module (switch) and have it reprogrammed. Should cost in the $300.00-$400.00 range parts and labor.
You could get a small thin screwdriver and pop the switch out... you'll probabally see the melted spot.
I hope this helps.
