GMC Repair: 1998 GMC Sonoma 4-cylinder Manual wont start in cold weather, pcm software, gmc sonoma

Question
Every winter when the temperature gets below 20 degrees fahrenheit my
truck will not start, it will turn over but not start. It has had a new battery put
in, a new fuel filter, and the fuel pressure seems to be fine. It starts perfectly
any other time just not in the winter, once it warms up usually over 20
degrees it will start again. But since I live in Michigan its a pretty big problem
in the winter.

Answer
Hi
I would get the fuel pressure checked.... It NEVER hurts.
I would then have the PCM scanned for codes...see if there is any problems with the computer.
There is an updated PCM software update that also MAY help your concern.
You'll need to have that done at a dealership OR a shop that has reprogramming abilities.
Have your mechanic check the ECT (Engine coolant temp) sensor make sure it "matches" coolant temp.
Of course, I ALWAYS also recommend a good major tune up... plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, injector flush..even though it MAY not solve your problem, it NEVER hurts.
I Hope all this info helps.
Good Luck
