GMC Repair: replacing brake lines, safari van, master cylinder

Question
I have to replace rusted brake lines on my 1992 Safari Van. The stock brake lines are bent into coils about 6 inches from the master cylinder. Do I need to coil the new brake lines or can I just run them straight from the master cylinder to the wheels?

Answer
Hi
Coils are necessary to act as a "spring",  if you will, or shall we say flexability. We could also call it extra "slack". Since the M/cyl is mounted on the body and the brakes are mounted on the frame, the coils allow for flexing of the body on the frame. Granted it may look like overkill, but for whatever reason they used that many coils, there was a reason.
I hope this helps.
Good Luck
