GMC Repair: 98 g1500 no start, crank sensor, cam shaft

Question
I have a 98 chevy g1500 with a 5.7L which was towed in with a no start condition. I confirmed that the vehicle had a no spark condition. performed all the necessary tests of the ignition sys. and determined that there was no ignition control signal from the VCM to the ICM. I then checked for continuity on that same circuit and for a short to ground, all checked out ok. i then proceeded to to install a new VCM and the same problem persists. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi
I am sure you checked the ECM1 fuse?
If  there is no ICM signal on ckt.423 (white) did you check the crank sensor signal?
See if you have engine RPM on the scan tool while cranking. Did you check the dist cap and rotor for corroion. Just making sure... basics are EASILY overlooked, ESPECIALLY by me!!!
You checked ckt 423 for short to (-) did you check it for the entire circuit for being O.L.?
Possible bad VCM?
Is the cam shaft broken?
Crank broken?
Let me know if there is any other help I can assist.
Just advice from experience.
Good Luck
