GMC Repair: rear end pinion gears, shaft gears, pinion shaft

Question
while replacing the outer seals that were leaking, I pulled the axles out and the pinion shaft gears fell out from the rear end. Also, are the plates on those gears seperate, or are they pressed to the gear?

Answer
Hi
You'll need to get the pinion gears lined up with the side gears.
You'll need to get them both equal one in rear one in front and rotate the differential assy until the holes line up and you can insert the pinion locking pin.
It may take a few times, it usually does take me 2 or 3 times myself :-)
Just be patient you can get it.
The washers are NOT pressed, and there should be one for each gear. They need to slide on while you are getting the holes lined up.
I Hope this helps.
Just advice from experience.
Good Luck
