GMC Repair: door lock, gmc jimmy, door handle

2001 gmc jimmy 2wd i seeing what was wrong driver door would not lock, it was because the piece in top of the lock that pulls the lock to lock has come off and has nothing to push against to lock, go that, in the meantime somehow the latch on the lock has gone down and i cannot get it back up so when u shut the door the latch is down and it hits the latch and u cannot close the door, it seems the latch is locked down, so is there ne way to release it or an easy way to remove the lock itself to try and fix it?

You would need to remove the inside door panel and access the latch through there,the outside door handle would need to be removed and then reposition the rod into the latch,all is accessed through the inside of the door.or take a screwdriver and move the latch arm outward while pulling up on the door handle.
