GMC Repair: 4wdrive locked in low, z 71, metal tag

I OWN A 1999GMC SIERRA Z-71.ITS LOCKED IN 4WLOW.NO INDICATOR LIGHTS ON DASH ARE ON.I CHECKED FUSE,EVEN CHANGED IT,STILL WILL NOT COME OUT OF 4WHEEL LOW.WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM?PLEASE HELP.    THANK YOU STEVE IN TEXAS

Is this an electric 4 wheel drive system or manual? do you just push a button inside the cab or do you have to lock the front hubs in?  Any way. Try putting the truck in nuetral and setting the selector on 4 high when the light comes on the hit the low button, assuming it is electric. When the light lights up then push the 4 low button while the vehicle is still in nuetral then push the 4 high. Then try backing up a few feet. If this doesnt help, then Then find the electrical connector on the transfer case and unplug it. Also let me know if this is a New Process 241 or New Venture NV241 transfer case. It should have a metal tag riveted on the trasfer case. Let me know. Good luck Jeff
