GMC Repair: steering column 98 gmc 3/4 ton sierra 4x4, windshield wipers, wheel components

Question
The switch on the windshield wipers is not working properly on the steering column.  It will hum and then eventually the wipers will start working.  Is this an easy repair and how do I repair this problem

FIRST you need to get it properly diagnosed as the problem may be with the wiper MOTOR which can cause the wiper switch to make this humming noise.

To replace the wiper switch you need SPECIAL TOOLS to remove the steering wheel components in order to access the wiper switch IF it is the switch and NOT the motor.

Get it PROPERLY diagnosed.
