I have a 1988 GMC 2500 Vandura Van and the electric block got knocked of my AC Clutch I need to remove the clutch to repair or replace it.I have pulling tools for other drives.I also have worked as a apprentice mechanic and even overhauled engines and do most of my own repair work except things that need special equipment for electronic tuning and such.My books don't tell me how to do this and I don't want to mess it up I need to remove the old clutch see if I can repair the electric block if not replace the clutch for $158 and reinstall it.
Answer -
There is no such component called an ELECTRIC BLOCK.
There is a electric block that is part of the electric coil to magnetize the clutch its blue composite material with two leads sticking out you connect to,to connect the clutch.Incidentally it was a job but I got the clutch out I repaired the electric by carving away till I could connect and solder the wire add a pigtail with the double connector block I cleaned it all up now I have to reinstall it I bunged up the screw threads a bit on the compressor shaft.I have to rethread but now I really need help putting it back together correctly so it works right.

Please clarify the part.

OK, Your ELECTRIC BLOCK is called a CLUTCH COIL.

You remove and reinstall the clutch assembly it requires SPECIAL TOOLS.

Without the tools you will not get the components off without damaging the parts.

Ok.You finally got the right name it is the electric coil.I have it ready to install now. I am going to put the electric coil on the front of the compressor it may need tapping on with a soft faced mallet as it is a pressure fit.I then have to put the belt pulley and bearing combination part this I will also use a soft faced mallet on as it pressure fits also then I have a seal I don't know where it really goes but I believe right after that then I have to install a square key on the shaft and put the front of the clutch on it is grooved for a square key then a flat and lock washer and finally the shaft nut.I'll use a little oil to make assembly easier. What I don't know is if there are any adjustments needed I don't see anything that needs adjustment but someone mentioned their may be a air gap adjustment I don't see where and I see no part that needs grease or lube.Even the bearing in the belt pulley and bearing assembly has a sealed bearing. The only special tool needed is the right kind of puller mine took the whole assembly off and damaged the thread on the shaft end but I repaired it with a thread chaser.I'll put it back together now.I wished you could have helped me more.I don't need to waste days having someone figure out what a electic block is on a AC clutch. There is only one electric block and that is on the electric coil and it's the last part that comes off and the first part that goes on.

Answer
I thought for a minute there that you wanted to ask me if I had any instructions and pictures that I could e-mail to show you how it all goes together using the appropriate tools.

But for your rude response being: "I don't need to waste days having someone figure out what a electic block is on a AC clutch".

I won't bother scanning and e-mailing the information. If you beat those components on with a hammer you have a very good chance of damaging the internal ALL ALUMINUM pistons and shaft within the compressor.
