88 gmc k1500 350 motor.  truck will not start after it is hot.  the injectors spray little then stop. Will start with starting fluid.  what could be the cause?
Answer -
NEVER EVER use starting fluid on these new engines unless you want to install a NEW ENGINE.

Perform this procedure;

Fuel pump test:

1. Get yourself a helper.

2. remove the gas cap.

3. have one person listen in the gas tank at the gas cap opening.

4. have the other person turn the ignition switch to the ON position ONLY so as the dash lights come on. Do NOT attempt to start the engine.

5. As soon as the ignition key is turned to the ON position, The person at the gas tank should hear the fuel pump run for TWO SECONDS and then it should STOP.

6. Does it ?.

If you do NOT hear it run, in most cases the fault is the fuel pump.

However, Sometimes if you continously try and start the engine 3 timse for 15 seconds continously and the vehicle starts, the fuel pump relay may be the fault.

let me know.

The fuel pump works.  PSI is 14 at the tbi inlet port at start up and after warmed up. the injectors spray a little when you first try to start after it is hot and a little as you shut off engine. parts that have been replaced are the following:fuel pump, fuel relay, strainer, fuel filter, fuel regulator, both injectors, oil pressure switched(one by dist. and above oil filter), coil, distributor. The truck runs great when cold or hot. It just doesn't start.  It will start after 7 or more minutes later.Power to coil and dist. are 12.2 volts. ECM?
Answer -
WOW !!!!!. With ALL these parts replaced sounds like somebody has been doing a lot of GUESSING.

There are 2 injectors and each injector has battery voltage at ALL times when the ignition is ON and when the engine is running. DOES IT ?.

The other connector at the 2 terminal is the GROUND side that is controlled by the ECM.

Without personally doing the diagnostics myself and you VERIFY that you have contionus battery voltage at ALL times to one of the 2 terminals at each injector, Then I would make my next test procedures at the ECM connectors to be sure there are no bent electrical pin connectors and or any corrosion.

If everything checks out OK wire wise from the injectors back to the ECM, Then I would HIGHLY suspect the ecm and or the calibration proms as he fault(s).

Has the CHECK ENGINE light EVER illuminated on the dash ?.

Have you tested the distributor PICKUP COIL as this can and has been known to cause intermittent failure. ?.

I have 12.2 volts at the injectors and drops to 10.4 when cranking motor over. Terminals and wires seem fine. All grounds that I found have been removed and cleaned. 2 braided lines from engine to frame and body, battery to starter and body, then fuel pump to frame. The new distributor was equipped with a new module and pick up. I can crank engine when hot for 5 seconds ,2 times, then on the third the injectors will start to pump. The engine light has never came on.Could it be the chips in the computer? When hooked up to a data reader everthing appears fine.No codes. Can you test the ecm ground? Location? I did try a different comp. that I know worked, same problem. I want to thank you for your help.

Answer
If the vehicle is over 8500 GVW it may have a FUEL MODULE which can cause this problem which is located just under the ECM.

As to ecm proms (chips) Highly unlikely.

I can provide you with numerous diagnostic charts and electrical schematics and component locations, However:
