GMC Repair: Jimmy Squeal, transmission problem, problem thanks

Hi
I have a 99 Jimmy, 4.3, 4 door, about 70,000 miles. I'm getting a really nasty squeal from it when ever I put it into gear. Drive and reverse does it but not in neutral or park. I replaced the belt just be sure and it wasn't that. Am I looking at a trany problem?

Without actaully hearing this problem, From your description it may possibly be a transmission problem.

If you had had ANY work done on the vehicle and this noise appeared within a couple of months after a repair was made somewhere on the vehcle, Check around in the area where previous work was performed.
