GMC Repair: vibration, air intake hose, spark plug wires

Question
I am asking you because all of the chevy guys are maxed out. But I have a 94 Caprice that under acceleration and at idle lopes severly, so much so that the entire car shudders. All maintenance is up to date, and no major repairs have been made to the vehicle. so I was wondering if you would have any insight as to what it could be?

Answer
OK, What it sounds like is that you have a vacuum leak most likely in a major vacuum line or the intake manifold is sucking air.

Buy an aerosol spray can or carburator cleaner and with the engine running spray all the vacuum lines as well as the intake manifold area and see if you get any cahnges in the loping. Just bE CAREFUL around electrical items such as spark plug wires.

I am pretty sure you have a vacuum leak and or possibly a fault of the IDLE AIR CONTROL SOLENOID or a residue buildup of a sticky blackish residue around the throttle plate area. Take OFF the fresh air intake hose(s) so you can physically see the throttle plate area and look for this residue and you acn use a spray cleaning agent to clean off the throttle plate area.
